EMMANUEL CHOIR

We are currently a small four part adult choir (11 members) with a good repertoire focusing mainly on traditional Anglican music and liturgy. We are a friendly bunch and would love to welcome new members.

We have a weekly choir practice on Wednesday evenings, with the odd additional practice for special services.

The Music

We sing at the morning service each week (Eucharist on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays and Mattins on the 2nd and 5th) and at Evensong on the 1st Sunday of each month.

In addition to the normal Sunday services we have had some or all of:

Advent Carol Service

Christmas Services including Nine Lessons and Carols

Eucharist on Ash Wednesday

Service of Passion Music (usually on Palm Sunday)

Good Friday service

The occasional Choral Evensong or other format special evening service

The music includes an anthem at most Eucharist services, sung psalms and hymns using Ancient & Modern, 100 Hymns for Today and Sing With All My Soul, with seasonal music as appropriate.

The choir enjoy learning new music and is willing to ‘have a go’ at anything.

The Organ

Our 1862 Walker pipe organ was recommissioned in June 2006 following a full restoration.

The choir are also used to singing unaccompanied and have been known to sing a complete unaccompanied Evensong.

We also have two pianos, one in the church and one in the Upper Room.
